Congratulations are due to the following winners in the state National History Day competition which was held at Mercer University in Macon on April 30. The first and second place finishers will represent our state in the national competition to be held at the University of Maryland near Washington D.C. the week of June 13. Rome High students earned two state championships, two second place and two third place finishes. In addition, Elena Diller, Julia Burton, Julia Taylor and Morgan Edwards won a special award from the Janis Group for their web site “The Public Debate on the Vietnam War,” which was named the best project related to military history.
