Rome High School
Students Selected to All-State Chorus
The
Rome High School Choral Department is
pleased to announce that thirty-six students
from Rome High School were selected for the
2011-2012 Georgia Music Educators All-State Chorus. This
is the highest number of students ever selected
for All-State Chorus from Rome High School,
doubling the record set last year. The RHS
chorus students are under the direction of Jennifer
Williams.
Being
selected for All-State Chorus is a prestigious
honor, as only 11% of all students who audition
across the state are selected. To be selected,
students must pass a challenging audition process,
which includes singing several scales, performing
a solo, completing music audiation and theory examples
and sight-reading three lines of music.
All
chorus students who were selected for All-State
Chorus are required to learn their concert repertoire
and demonstrate proficiency at a second audition
in January.
The
selected students will then meet in Savannah,
GA on Feb. 23-25
for several intensive rehearsals with world-renown
clinicians and a concluding concert.
