The Bonner Scholars Program
The Bonner Scholars Program is a four-year scholarship for undergraduate students who have a need for financial assistance and a commitment to community work. At Berry College, the program supports up to 20 students per cohort each year by providing access to education and opportunities to serve. In lieu of on-campus student employment, Bonner Scholars serve an average of 10 hours per week at local nonprofit organizations, governmental agencies, and/or public schools. Additionally, the program offers an intensive experience in community-based learning and leadership development that focuses on civic engagement, community building, diversity, international perspective, social justice, and spiritual exploration. The Bonner Scholars Program supports students for four years of their undergraduate education through Bonner Foundation Funds, institutional funds, and subsidized governmental loans.
Below are the qualifications for the scholarship:
- The Bonner Scholars Program is a financial need-based scholarship. Incoming Bonner Scholars cannot typically have an Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) of greater than $10,000.00. Based on the information provided on the Free Application for Student Federal Aid (FAFSA), the federal government assigns the student an EFC, the amount of money that the federal government determines he/she can contribute to educational expenses in the coming year.
- The Bonner Scholars Program is a service scholarship. Thus, successful candidates have been actively engaged in meaningful service to their communities, faith groups, and/or families.
- The Bonner Scholars Program seeks a diverse group of students that exhibit good citizenship and a commitment to serving others as well as maintains strong academic performance.
