Oglethorpe Power Makes Donation to Rome City SchoolsDiane McClearen, Director of Community and External Relations for Oglethorpe Power, gives a check for $2,500.00 to Rome City Schools Interim Superintendent John Jackson. The funds will be used to underwrite STEM activities in Rome City Schools such as the annual Rome High School Advanced Placement (AP) Calculus field trip to Georgia Tech where students visit classes, talk with professors, and learn about careers in the areas of science, math, and technology.Oglethorpe Power generates electricity for thirty-eight electric membership cooperative (EMCs) in Georgia. One of its facilities, Rocky Mountain Hydroelectric Plant, is located here in Floyd County.
