At the beginning of the school year our administration decided we would not have student crossing guards as our streets are very busy.  Instead, we decided to use older students as “safety patrol” inside our building and in our doorways.  Seven 6th grade students were selected by their teachers for these leadership positions.  They arrive early to school each day, eat a quick breakfast, put on their safety patrol belts & badges, and hit the floor to assist with the “traffic” of schoolwide arrivals.  Our safety patrol team greets students, reminds them to walk slowly in lines, to hold handrails when going up and down stairs, and to remember all W-O-L-F behaviors as their school day begins.
Several members of this team also raise and lower the American flag each day.  They received flag training from Mr. Bill King, a patriotic member of our community.
We want to thank AAA of Georgia for providing our patrol team members with their new belts and badges this year.  Team members also received membership cards and will receive award certificates at the end of the year.
