• Welcome to Rome High School

    lll Family,

As I begin my second school year as Principal of Rome High School, I am so excited about the progress made in year one and look forward to another exciting school year!

Academically, we ranked number 54 as the “Best High School in Georgia” by U.S. News & World Report, with a projected graduation rate of 90.4%.  The Senior class received over $8 million in scholarship with 138 students receiving the HOPE scholarship. We saw a significant increase in student attendance and in distinguished learners on the Georgia Milestones End Of Course (EOC) Assessment. Over 669 AP exams were administered and, through RAL-E and Unit Recovery in Edgenuity, we reduced the number of failed credits by half.

Athletically, we finished number 15 overall in the Georgia Athletic Director’s Association Cup. Our football team won the state championship for the second time in a row, and the swim team captured three state championships. We also had region winners in cross country.

In the Arts department, our band, “Sound of the Seven Hills”  received superior ratings. Our drama and debate team won area competitions, and our show choir, “Grand Finale” had a wonderful inaugural season. AFJROTC  received superior ratings during their inspections and many of our other clubs and extracurricular activities had success as well.

We are so thankful to our community for supporting the SPLOST. With its approval, we will build a College and Career Academy on our campus. This will help us meet the needs of all students.

Our energized staff is deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of our students. We will continue to strive for excellence in all we do by setting high expectations for all students and providing supportive systems to assure success. We will also strive to engage the community in the vision and mission of the school. We will continue to build relationships, increase rigor, and add relevance to our teaching.

Rome High’s mission is to ensure that all students graduate from Rome High School prepared for college or work.

This year, Rome High School also established a graduation vision that represents that mission. The vision is that graduates will be able to develop knowledge and understanding, think critically and solve problems, listen, communicate, and collaborate effectively, know how to persevere, use technology as a tool, and engage with soft skills in a global environment. As we embrace the challenges of the future, we will continue to cherish and celebrate the Rome High School traditions of the past.

With an outstanding faculty and staff, involved parents and community members, and committed students, we will have another successful year.  At Rome High School, “No one of us is as great as all of us.”

    Love,

    Dr. Eric L. Holland
