The Rome City Schools Curriculum and Instruction is based on the Georgia Standards of Excellence for grades K-12. The Georgia Standards of Excellence supports evidence-based instructional practices and strategies for differentiated, innovative, and effective teaching and learning based on the GSE standards in support of a balanced curriculum for the whole child.
The Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) provide clear expectations for instruction, assessment, and student work. They define the level of work that demonstrates achievement of the standards, enabling a teacher to know “how good is good enough.” The performance standards identify the knowledge and skills needed to problem-solve, reason, communicate, and make connections with other information. The GSE includes the content standards (the concepts/content a student is expected to master), suggested performance tasks, sample student work, and teacher commentary on that work.
