The Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA) and the Georgia Vision Project’s Spark campaign sponsored a video contest for high school students where students were challenged to create a one-minute video response that answered the question, “What is your vision of public education in Georgia?” The videos were judged on various elements such as creativity and thoughtfulness of the question. Teacher or professional help could not be given other than to provide encouragement and motivation. The students completed the project in only approximately three days. The entire Phoenix Performance Learning Center (PLC) was supportive in helping the four students who took leadership in the project, Jada Holliday, Malik Sims, Donde-l Watkins, and Israel Wells. Our students took first place out of twenty-five entries, and the students earned $1,000 for future media activities. See GSBA's announcement below for more information.
