College Readiness Testing

College Readiness

ACT and CollegeBoard offer assessments to assist in determining college readiness.  All colleges and universities in Georgia accept both ACT and SAT scores for admission purposes.  ACT and CollegeBoard determine national testing dates and testing sites for the ACT and SAT examinations.

  • The ACT assesses general educational development and evaluates a student’s ability to complete college level work.

  • The PSAT is a practice assessment opportunity for 10th grade students to experience and better understand the requirements of the SAT.

  • The SAT assesses critical thinking skills needed for future academic success and evaluates a student’s ability to analyze and solve problems.

Rome City Schools provides a community test site for both the ACT and SAT according to the schedule determined by ACT and CollegeBoard.  Students register for these assessments using the associated websites.  The PSAT is administered in October during the regular school day at Rome High School.

Additional information may be found on the GaDOE website or the various testing (ACT, PSAT, and SAT) websites.
