Georgia Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Skills 2.0 (GKIDS 2.0) & GKIDS Readiness Check

GKids

The Georgia Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Skills 2.0 (GKIDS 2.0) and GKIDS Readiness Check are evaluations created by the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE).  Kindergarten students participate in both GKIDS 2.0 and the GKIDS Readiness Check.  The GKIDS Readiness Check measures a student’s initial knowledge of twenty concepts and skills along three progressions – Foundations of School Success, English Language Arts, and Mathematics.  Its sole purpose is to guide instruction.  GKIDS 2.0 measures a student’s progression of learning in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Approaches to Learning, Personal and Social Development, and Motor Skills.  The information gathered from these assessments guides teachers in planning instruction and determining a student’s strengths and areas for growth.

Rome City Schools administers GKIDS 2.0 and GKIDS Readiness Check to all kindergarten students. GKIDS Readiness Check is completed during the first six weeks of school, and GKIDS 2.0 is a yearlong assessment with year-end results recorded as final scores.  Both assessments seek to discover a student’s readiness – GKIDS Readiness Check for kindergarten and GKIDS 2.0 for first grade.
