Rome High School continues to Move the Needle, earning recognition as a 2026 Breakout School from the Georgia Association of Secondary School Principals (GASSP) for its commitment to academic achievement and student success.

The Breakout Schools Award recognizes Georgia high schools that demonstrate high levels of academic achievement or significant improvements in student performance. The statewide program highlights schools making a difference in student learning and provides opportunities for educators to share successful practices with their peers.

Rome High School Principal Dr. Christy Epps said the recognition reflects the dedication of students and the educators who support them.

“This recognition is a reflection of the hard work taking place in our classrooms every day,” Dr. Epps said. “Our students continue to challenge themselves and demonstrate what they can accomplish, and our teachers and staff work tirelessly to provide the instruction, encouragement and opportunities they need to succeed. We are proud to see that work recognized at the state level.”

As a Breakout School, Rome High School will have the opportunity to share its successes with education leaders from across Georgia during the Georgia School Leaders Conference in the Spring.

Rome City Schools Superintendent Dr. Eric L. Holland said the recognition reflects the district's continued focus on preparing students for success beyond high school.

“Our goal is to prepare every student for college and work, and recognitions like this demonstrate the progress we are making toward that goal,” Dr. Holland said. “Rome High School continues to Move the Needle because of the commitment of our students, teachers, administrators and families. We are proud of this accomplishment and excited that our school will have an opportunity to share its successes with educators from across Georgia.”
