Joe Rutledge

March, 2023 - Congratulations are in order for Rome High School freshman, Joe Rutledge, who placed first in Physical, Biological, and Earth Science at the 4-H District Project Achievement (DPA). Joe will go on to represent Floyd County 4-H this summer, where he will compete for Master 4-H Status (State Champion).

4-H is a part of the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension program that promotes  "building partnerships for community youth development that value and involve youth in solving issues critical to their lives, their families, and society."

4-H is not only agriculture and animal-related projects, but STEM opportunities as well. Topics can include rocketry, robotics, environmental protection, music, and computer science. Floyd County 4-H offers livestock showing, public speaking, leadership, service, recreation, quiz bowl, shooting sports and more.

Joe created a project, kept records, then assembled a presentation and portfolio in the Physical, Biological, and Earth Sciences category, which takes a year to complete. As a winner of the District Project Achievement (DPA), Joe will have a chance to compete for a state title (Master 4-H) at State Congress in Atlanta this summer.
