Rome High School had 52 students receive academic honors from the College Board National Recognition Programs. These programs celebrate students' hard work and showcase their strong academic performance. The program celebrates underrepresented students who excel on College Board assessments, including the PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, and AP Exams.
Awardees of the College Board National Recognition Program demonstrate academic success in 10th and 11th grade. Eligible students of all backgrounds can earn the School Recognition Award and First-Generation Recognition Award.
“Our students continue to show strong work in the classroom and on tests. Our teachers work hard to prepare our students, and our students show the knowledge they have learned through these tests,” Rome High School Principal Parke Wilkinson says. “We are proud of their hard work and their achievements.”
The College Board’s National Recognition Program is designed to shine a light on high-achieving students nationwide across all backgrounds. By claiming a National Recognition Program award, students have a tangible way to stand out to colleges and celebrate their academic achievements with their communities. The program also serves as a valuable tool for higher education members seeking to connect with remarkable students across the country, including students from lesser-known high schools.
Students demonstrate academic excellence when they:
Take the PSAT/NMSQT (10th, 11th), PSAT 10 (10th), and/or AP Exams (by the end of 10th).
Earn a cumulative GPA of B+ or higher (at least 3.3 or 87-89%) by the time of submission.
Demonstrate academic achievement: Be one of the top 10% of test takers - in their high school, among first-generation college students in their state, and/or among rural and small-town students in their state OR earn a 3+ on 2 or more distinct AP exams in the 8th, 9th and/or 10th grade.
