Rome City Schools is pleased to announce that Dr. Eric Roberston has been named the principal at Main Elementary School.
Dr. Rob has been serving as the interim principal since early January, and the Rome City Schools Board of Education approved him as the new principal of Main at the February board meeting on Tuesday night at the Rome High School College and Career Academy.
“I’m honored and grateful to be named principal of Main Elementary,” Dr. Roberton said. “Since I began my time as interim principal in early January, it was clear that Main is a special school with a strong sense of community and a deep commitment to students. Moving forward, my priority is to build on that foundation by strengthening relationships, supporting our teachers and staff, and keeping student growth at the center of every decision. When families, educators, and students feel supported and connected, great things happen.”
Dr. Robertson, known as Dr. Rob, received his Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership with a specialization in Special Education Leadership and has additional advanced degrees in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment as well as Mathematics and Communications. In addition to his doctoral degree, throughout his educational career, Dr. Robertson served as the RTA/Central Office Program Administrator, Assistant Principal, SPED Instructional Coach, SPED Department Chair, Mathematics Department Chair, SPED Teacher, Mathematics Teacher, and Elementary Teacher.
Dr. Robertson served his country for eight years in the United States Marine Corps and currently serves as the Pastor of Friendship Baptist Church in Cedartown. Together, his past and present experiences reflect his commitment to serving others, mentoring, and leading with integrity. All the values he will bring to Main Elementary School.
Some of Dr. Robertson's notable achievements include helping guide Main Elementary to being recognized as a PBIS Distinguished School by the Georgia Department of Education and participation in the RCS Aspiring Leader Academy. The focus of Dr. Robertson's work is to bridge achievement gaps so that all students can graduate prepared for college or work. His leadership reflects a strong commitment to creating a positive school culture, supporting teachers, engaging families, and supporting student success.
