Financial audit report

Rome City Schools has once again received a clean audit report, demonstrating the district's continued commitment to sound financial management, accountability, and responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources.

The independent audit found that the district's financial statements were presented fairly and accurately and identified no material weaknesses or significant deficiencies in the district's financial reporting practices. The audit also included a review of all ESPLOST expenditures. A clean audit opinion is the highest level of assurance an auditor can provide and indicates that the district's financial statements accurately reflect its financial position.

Superintendent Dr. Eric L. Holland said the clean audit reflects the district's ongoing commitment to sustainability with accountability.

“Receiving a clean audit is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our finance team, administrators, and Board of Education," Holland said. "Our community entrusts us with valuable resources, and we take that responsibility seriously. This clean audit is another indication that Rome City Schools is on solid financial footing as we continue our mission of engaging students, empowering teachers, and elevating success.”

Chief Financial Officer Greg Studdard said the audit reflects years of careful planning and sound financial decision-making throughout the district.

“A clean audit is the result of strong internal controls, careful budgeting, and a commitment to accountability at every level of the organization," Studdard said. "Our team works hard in collaboration with our Superintendent and School Board to ensure taxpayer dollars are managed responsibly and aligned with the needs of our students, staff, and schools.”

The clean audit comes as Rome City Schools continues to invest in academic initiatives, school safety, employee support, and facility improvements while maintaining a strong financial foundation, including the opening of the new Rome Middle School, expanded safety measures, literacy initiatives, and ongoing efforts to move the needle in student achievement across the district.
