Rome City Schools principals and administrators joined educational leaders from across Georgia this week for the Georgia Association of Educational Leaders (GAEL) Summer Conference on Jekyll Island, where they learned from peers and shared innovative practices that are making a difference in Rome City Schools.
The annual conference brought together school and district leaders from across the state for professional learning centered on this year's theme, Live. Learn. Lead. Participants attended breakout sessions focused on leadership, professional growth, and the evolving challenges facing schools while networking with colleagues and exploring new educational resources and strategies.
Rome City Schools was represented as presenters in two breakout sessions highlighting the district's work in instructional leadership and school safety.
Superintendent Dr. Eric L. Holland and John Fricks, Director of Instructional Technology, Safety and Operations, discussed Rome City School’s comprehensive approach to school safety. They shared how Rome City Schools is combining planning, training, technology and strong partnerships with local emergency agencies to create safe learning environments while meeting Georgia's new school safety standards.
Dr. Dennis Drummond, Assistant Superintendent, and Dr. Latasha Clark, Instructional Support Specialist, shared how Rome City Schools is helping teachers work together more effectively through meaningful feedback, stronger assessments and thoughtful conversations about student data. The presentation highlighted practical strategies that educational leaders can use to improve instruction and increase student achievement.
