Meet the Team: Rome City Schools Superintendent Advisory Council When Dr. Holland came on board as Superintendent of Rome City Schools in September of 2022, he recognized the importance and wanted to continue the legacy of the Rome City Schools Superintendent Advisory Council. The Council is a group of highly-qualified educators serving as the voice for teachers and staff in the district’s decision-making process. Council members are selected through nomination and election. It consists of 10 members, including teachers, staff, and the district Teacher of the Year. The Council provides a forum to engage in monthly collaborative discussions with the superintendent on issues relating to rigorous diverse academic experiences, student support services, school climate, culture, discipline, career opportunities, and other factors that impact the Rome City Schools system. Superintendent Advisory Council members share ideas, suggestions, and questions from their peers and are ready to work with the Superintendent and Central Office staff on meaningful solutions. The meetings are held monthly at the Central Office. During their term, members not only attend Council meetings, but also recruitment events. They serve as RCS Ambassadors in the community and for their schools. Rome City Schools is honored to have a Superintendent Advisory Council with outstanding members who are committed to working together to bring to fruition the mission and vision of Rome City Schools.

Rome High Head Football Coach, John Reid provides an update on the Rome Wolves offensive staff ahead of the 2023-2024 season. “We had a remarkable first staff meeting," Coach Reid said of his new offensive staff. "One of, if not the best meeting in which I have been involved in over 30+ years.” He says each coach was confident and understood his part in the offense. The staff then collaborated and contributed in a really great session. “It was how I would think a group of talented musicians might operate when getting together to jam the first time." On Offensive Line Coach, Buck Hanson, Coach Reid said, “if your son is an offensive lineman you want Buck Hanson to coach him, period. Buck Hanson is one of the best offensive line coaches in the country and we are absolutely thrilled he will be on the sidelines with us." On his new Receivers Coach, Shawn Sutton, Reid said, “when you mention the name Shawn Sutton in coaching circles, the first thing that come to mind is winner. Coach Sutton has been a part of numerous championship programs. He is legendary as a position coach and strength coach. We both set goals to work together one day. Now that he is a Rome Wolf, we have fulfilled that goal." When it comes to Running Back coach, Jason King, Reid said, “Jason is now the longest tenured coach on our staff. He loves the Rome Wolves and will be an integral part of our success moving forward. His knowledge of both facets of the offensive scheme will be the difference in our success." And on Offensive Coordinator, Steve Humphrey, Coach Reid said, “Coach Humphrey exudes confidence, and enthusiasm. He brings to the table the key elements that I was looking for in our offense. I wanted an extremely strong fundamental coach for our quarterbacks. I wanted a coach to come in and take advantage of our player abilities, and a coach that was excited about the opportunity to join our program. We got got all three with Coach Humphrey."

That means half their schedule for the school year is spent in these very rigorous courses. Thank you to Mr. Stafford, Ms. McKenzie, Ms. Goldin, Mr. Santa Maria, Ms. Ehrler, and Ms. Branson for all your hard work encouraging students to participate in this program. Your hard work makes a difference. We are so happy to have you in the Wolfpack!
